The roads leading to the Dingras National High School campus in Dingras,
Ilocos Norte will be paved literally with longing and excitement as alumni from
the glorious class of 1965 of what was formerly known then as Dingras High
School will gather together, mostly for the first time, for their golden
jubilee celebration on March 20, 2015. They will form the core group of some
three hundred expected attendees which include alumni from different class
years dating back to as early as the 1950s.
Serving
as a major highlight of the school’s 28th Grand Alumni Homecoming
this year, the “golden event” will also draw attendance by alumni families,
guests and their many friends some of whom will come from overseas settlements
like Australia, Mainland United States, Canada and the islands of Hawaii.

Ed Vincent S. Albano, former RTC Judge of Pampanga and President of the DNHS
General Alumni Association for the last 28 years informed that this year’s
alumni gathering will revolve around the theme “Sharing God-given gifts with
Humanity.”
In
explaining the theme rationale, he said that it is again time to revisit the
role and commitment vested upon every alumnus on their graduation and that is
to be of service to fellowmen in whatever capacity, form or degree.
“I
know our alumni have been active contributors towards the growth and
development of their immediate communities in particular, and the world at
large, in general,” he explained. “Even the humble farmer-alumnus is giving his
share in the grand scheme of things,” he further stated.
Meanwhile,
Dr. Ernesto T. Lumaoang, acting chairperson and over-all coordinator of the
1965 DHS Alumni Association, informed that the day-long festivities will
kick-off with an ecumenical prayer service following the general registration
at 8:30 in the morning of Friday. An opening program and a short business
meeting which will select a new set of officers for the General Alumni
Association complete the morning activities. A fellowship luncheon for all
alumni and guests provides the noon-time break. A 3:00 PM motorcade along the
main downtown thoroughfares will serve as the afternoon’s main offering.
Ms.
Glorina Papaioannou, a Class ’65 jubilarian now based in Australia, will be
crowned Miss Golden Jubilee and Homecoming Queen 2015 in fitting ceremonies
during the Coronation Program and Ball at 7:30 in the evening. Testimonials
from and special awards for chosen alumni will be interspersed in appropriate
sections of the day-long celebration.
Along
with the Golden Jubilarians (Class ’65), the following class batches will also
share honors at this occasion: Emerald Jubilarians (Class ’55), Ruby
Jubilarians (Class ’75), Pearl Jubilarians (Class ’85) and Silver Jubilarians
(Class ’90).
