Matilde Neri, head of the Provincial Education Office under the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte confirmed this as representatives from the Farrington High School in Hawaii, United States will be flying to Manila and Ilocos Norte for the proposed Hawaii Philippines Education Exchange Program.

Ms. Neri said Manila and the province of Ilocos Norte maintain sisterhood ties in view of the presence of many Filipinos or mostly Ilocanos based in Hawaii.

She reported that the Philippine Consulate of Hawaii through Jeffrey de Mesa has sent a letter to Ilocos Norte Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa “Imee” R. Marcos for proper coordination.

In view of this, the Schools Division of Ilocos Norte has recommended at least four schools where the Farrington High School will be initially visiting. The pre-visit will be composed of two administrators, two teachers and two community representatives from Farrington.

These schools include the San Nicolas National High School, Solsona National High School and Bacarra National Comprehensive High School who specialized in arts and the Nueva Era National High School in culture.

As soon as the group arrives in the province, Ms. Neri said there will be discussion on the possible implementation of student exchange program which is expected to benefit both foreign and local students.
