Mobile-PDOS for Ilocano migrants on June 4-5

LAOAG CITY—Ilocanos who are set to travel abroad for work need not to go to Metro Manila to attend the mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) as the Commission on Filipinos Overseas will bring in mobile-PDOS for migrants in the Ilocos region on June 4-5, 2015.

Edwin CariƱo, head of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) of the provincial government said Thursday the CFO has already coordinated with them for the conduct of mobile PDOS for Ilocanos migrating to the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and many other European countries.

The Mobile PDOS for migrants is one of the CFO’s initiative to bring government service more accessible to clients.

Ilocos Norte, known to have the largest population of immigrants in Ilocos region was chosen to host the mobile-PDOS for the first time here in the province.

Upon the invitation of Ilocos Norte Governor Ma. Imelda “Imee” R. Marcos, a team from the CFO will be coming to Ilocos Norte early next month to conduct the seminar at the Provincial Capitol session hall.

Beneficiaries are those who have been granted with immigrant visa class by various countries and are required to register with the CFO prior to departure by virtue of Republic Act 79 and by Section 2-b of Executive Order No. 346.

To date, prospective permanent migrants must take the PDOS either in the CFOs main office in Manila or in Cebu City’s satellite office.

The three-hour orientation covers the following: settlement concerns, rights and responsibilities of migrants as well as policies and procedures of their respective countries of emigration, situations of employment, children’s education and housing.

Upon completion of all the requirements by the migrants, his/her passport is stamped with the CFO sticker, which in turn is inspected by the Bureau of Immigration in his or her port of exit.


Interested applicants may just coordinate at the Communications and Media Office or MDG for the filing of forms and schedule of activities.
