‘Alisto, Asenso, Progreso’ is Laoag's new tagline under new mayor

Laoag City—The new administration in this city unveiled a new tagline, ““Alisto, Asenso, Progreso”.

The new tagline became effective after new Laoag Mayor James Bryan Q. Alcid signed Executive Order No. JBA 001-2025, adopting the new tagline.

The neophyte mayor said the new tagline reflects the direction of the new administration in building a government that is responsive, progressive, and committed to serving all Laoagueños anchored on “Alisto” [alert and quick to respond], “Asenso” [growth and improvement], and “Progreso” [inclusive development].

In addition, Alcid likewise approved and signed two memoranda: “Implement Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act” (RPVARA) and “Intensified cleaning and disinfecting of Laoag City Public Market”.

The mayor immediately proceeded to the Laoag City General Hospital (LCGH) on its present status upon officially assuming the post.

He likewise met with the city police and the city disaster management officials. The mayor also inspected the Laoag City Pubic Market and found out some problems that needs some repair.

The mayor likewise met the official members of the Laoag City Press Corp and after which, a new set of officers were elected in the presence of city communications and media officer Mary Jane Pascual Leano.


The new set of officers of the Laoag City Press Corp 2025: Dulce Valenzuela of DZJC, president; Nora Root Tomas also of DZJC; vice president; Jovelyn Curammeng of DZEA, secretary; Tere Sundayon of RPN-DZRL, treasurer; Jay Agnir of Bombo Radyo Laoag,  auditor; the Board of Directors are Dominic Dela Cruz of The Ilocos Times; Edmar Ines and Jude Pitpitan of Radyo Pilipinas; Joane Agustin of iFM; Kristel Tabladillo of Bombo Radyo Laoag; Joey Quiaoit of JCQ Online Channel; Mark Jansen and Revs Velasco of Solid North and Jasper Daoang of Daily Tribune with Communications and Media Officer Mary Jane Pascual Leaño as adviser.  (Doms dela Cruz)


The 2025 Laoag City Press Corp officers are: Dulce Valenzuela of DZJC, president; Nora Root Tomas of DZJC, vice president; Jovelyn Curammeng of DZEA, secretary; Tere Sundayon of RPN-DZRL, treasurer; and Jay Agnir of Bombo Radyo Laoag, auditor.

While the rest of the other media people covering City Hall automatically became members of the Board of Directors: Dominic dela Cruz of The Ilocos Times; Edmar Ines and Jude Pitpitan of Radyo Pilipinas; Joane Agustin of iFM; Kristel Tabladillo of Bombo Radyo Laoag; Joey Quiaoit of JCQ Online Channel; Mark Jansen and Revs Velasco of Solid North, and Jasper Daoang of Daily Tribune.

Meanwhile, the new set of the 13th Sangguniang Panlungsod members Laoag Vice Mayor and presiding officer Rey Carlos Fariñas likewise conducted their inaugural session on June 30, 2025 at 2:00 pm.

During the said session, four measures were approved: “A Resolution Adopting The Internal Rules Of Procedure (IRP) of the 13th Sangguniang Panlungsod Of Laoag”; “A Resolution Designating the Chairpersons, Vice-Chairpersons, And members of the Twenty-Six (26) Standing Committees of the 13th Sangguniang Panlungsod Of Laoag”; “A Resolution Adopting the Rules of Procedure of the 13th Sangguniang Panlungsod in the Conduct of Administrative Investigation Against Elective Barangay Officials Within The City Of Laoag”; and “A Resolution Designating the Authorized and Alternative Signatories of the City Government Of Laoag and Defining the Extent of Their Authority to Transact with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) and Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP).

Free dormitories eyed for Nueva Era students in LC, Batac
