Some good things

American writer John Greene said: The marks humans leave are too often scars. A statement that paints the sad—actually, almost grim—realities in life.  Realities that we cannot deny.

But life is not all pain—for scars can never make hope extinct. And to celebrate hope amidst wounds, we have compiled some good things that still reign in our lives. There are more, but these are the closest to our hearts.

1.       Your family is your number one fan.
2.     Your family will never treat you as a “has-been”.
3.     Family members may walk away, but they will always be there for you.
4.     True friends consider you as family.
5.     Like your family, your friends are always ready to sacrifice for you.
6.     False friends will eventually love you truly.
7.     Like love, friendship never dies.
8.     Your enemies secretly admire you.
9.     You secretly admire your enemies.
10.   If given a chance, your enemies will defend you.
11.     If given a chance, you will defend your enemies.
12.   Though some disagree, time really heals all wounds.
13.   Time does not only heal wounds, it also protects you from future pains.
14.   Pain is temporary.
15.   Failures are mere quizzes, not the final exam.
16.   In time, joy increases, hatred decreases.
17.   There is no such thing as “betrayal”, only wrong choices.
18.   Even wrong choices can produce good results.
19.   Even a lax conscience longs for forgiveness.
20. Even the hardest heart can forgive.
21.   Those who decide to grow up will never grow old.
22.  Most of the time, pride is not something to be proud of.
23.  Even the fiercest warrior is a child at heart.
24. Even the weakest child is a warrior at heart.
25.  The mind understands if you use your heart more often.
26. The heart understands if you use your mind more often.
27.  Like the heart, the mind is by nature good.
28. The heart and the mind are partners not enemies.
29.Love conquers all.
30.The powerful is not immune to Karma.
31.  Karma is not anti-poor.
32. Even poverty can produce happy memories.
33. Not all powerful men are greedy.
34.Greed is not invincible.
35. Many greedy men repent and eventually embrace generosity.
36.Generosity is not a work of fiction.
37. Generosity is not a monopoly of the rich.
38.Fairy tales are true stories.
39.There are real-life superheroes.
40.There are super villains, but good always prevails.
41.With a sincere effort, the Holy Bible is easy to understand.
42.Even if we do not have enough faith, GOD will move mountains for us.
43.JESUS died to give us life.
44.GOD is always merciful and forgiving.
45.GOD is not dead.

Marcos town celebrates 3rd Pinakbet Festival

MARCOS, Ilocos Norte—Taking pride of this town ’s favorite Ilo cano dish, locally known as pinakbet, a mix of indigenous vegetables steamed in fish sauce, residents here ushered the opening of the third Pinakbet festival. “Pinakbet” came from the contracted Ilokano word ‘pinakebbet ’ which means “ shrunk ” or “shriveled.” As a way of thanksgiving, the Pinakbet festival is a repository of the town ’ s “ani” [harvest] festival being celebrated every month of March but this was later moved to December to accommodate more balikbayans wanting to join the festivity. Residents in this agricultural town derived most of their income from the harvest of high value crops, including rice, tobacco and corn as staple crops. This year, the week-long festivity highlighted a grand parade around the town plaza and a pinakbet cook fest at the municipal gymnasium to showcase the best pinakbet in town.
