San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte—Municipal Mayor Melanie Grace P. Valdez said they will rehabilitate three elementary schools here.

The rehabilitation plan is a result of Ms. Valdez’s visit to all the elementary schools in this town. The visit was to pinpoint which school needs refurbishing.

The three schools are San Nicolas Central Elementary School, Eladio Barangan Elementary School and the Filipinas Elementary School West.

Ms. Valdez said that based on the inspection report, San Nicolas Central Elementary School needs an immediate repair on the flooring of its old building’s second floor old building along with a one room. They approximated the cost between P2-3 million.

The Eladio Barangan Elementary School, on the other hand, needs the flooring to be raised since it is always flooded. Three classrooms also need floor and rood repair.

Filipinas Elementary School West is in the same situation as the Eladio Barangan school and similar repairs are needed.

Other schools need minor repairs, Ms. Valdez added and this will be funded by the Special Education Fund (SEF) of the municipal government.

The SM Foundation has donated P1 million to help for the rehabilitation of the Central Elementary School.

Another foundation, which the mayor has not named, also signified its intention to help in the rehabilitation of the Eladio Barangan Elementary School.

Likewise, another foundation which the mayor decided not to announce yet the name also signified its intention to help in the rehabilitation of the Eladio Barangan School.

Meanwhile, Ms. Valdez also announced that the Agri Party List also signified its intention to give P2 million for the rehabilitation of schools here.

Other than this, the party list also promised to help farmers’ projects here.
