Laoag City celebrates Pamulinawen Festival 2015

Laoag City—The city’s “golden fiesta” celebration got off to a rip-roaring start on Feb. 1 with the successful civic-military opening parade and capped off by the Dios ti Agngina concert featuring Hale and Martin del Rosario.

On Feb. 2, the Agro Industrial Fair and Marikina Shoe Expo opened. This was closely followed by the kick-off celebration of Ilocos Norte’s 197th foundation anniversary with the “Open Capitol” and job fair programs.

The city’s little ones were also featured in the search for Little Mr. and Miss Laoag 0n Feb. 3. Ralph John and Yesu May emerged as main winners in the program that featured Zaijian “Santino” Jaranilla as special guest.

Rep. Sherwin Gatchalian (Valenzuela City, first district) also joined the fiesta celebrations by serving as guest of honor and speaker in the NGO Night on Feb. 3.

The fiesta celebration’s first beauty pageant on Feb. 4 saw Josephine Trapa of Cluster 1 emerge as Miss ABC 2015. The pageant’s other winners are Jensan Cortez, Princess Ellaine Galario, Gimyla Ceredon and Janikka Mae Nicolas, in that order.

Miss Philippines Hawaii Pacific 2014 Mayrose Ancheta Borromeo was crowned during the coronation of Kalayaan Philippines International Night with Rep. Lenie G. Robredo (Camarines Sur, first District) as crowning guest.

The seniors took center stage on Feb. 6 with the “Gandang Lola, Guwapong Lolo” coronation held on February 6.

The Ilocos Nortenians of America Queens Lydia Dela Cruz Daquioag, Ms. Ilocos Norte USA and Elena Edra Gaspar, Ms. INA Namnama Sarrat USA was also held with Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman as crowning guest.

The Dulang Food Fair featuring “Golden Foods” was held on February 7 at the multi-purpose hall, followed by the Ilocos Norte National High School Night.

The colorful Calesa Parade was on on February 8 followed by the Laoag City Circle of Hawaii, Sirmata Dialysis Fund Corporation and the DepEd Laoag City Night with the coronation of Sirmata Queens Ranga Aganon from the city of Batac and Enrica A. Asio of Bacarra with US Ambassador to the Philippines Philip Goldberg as the crowning guest as highlights.

The much-awaited colorful floral parade was conducted on February 9 and was participated in by schools, NGOs, government and private agencies and other LGUs in the province.


This was followed by the coronation of 2015 ULOH Grand Queen Ms. Tessie Francisco Domingo and 2015 LaoagueƱos of Hawaii Mrs. Recely Lazo during the United LaoagueƱos of Hawaii Night.
