SAN NICOLAS, Ilocos Norte—The municipal government here has
passed an ordinance conferring commendations, citation or awards for the best
performing barangay units, its councils or civil society groups and outstanding
barangay officials.
The ordinance, according to San Nicolas officials aims to
recognize the indispensable role of every barangay as the primary unit of
government policies, plans, programs, projects and activities in the community.
Awardees will receive a trophy and a Sangguniang Bayan
Resolution of Conferment of Appreciation or Citation of Commendation to be
awarded during the municipal town fiesta in December.
San Nicolas Liga ng mga Barangay president and Sangguniang Bayan
ex-officio member Linda Badua, one of the authors of the measure, said a
committee was created for the selection of awardees with the local chief
executive as the chairperson.
Other authors of this ordinance are San Nicolas councilors Atty.
Reynaldo Corpuz and Engr. Efren Butay.
