Graduating DOST scholars now ready for job hunting

The Department of Science and Technology Region 1 conducted a seminar on job hunting for graduating DOST scholars on March 20, 2015 at the DOST PSTC-La Union San Fernando City.

The seminar was attended by nine DOST-SEI RA 7687 scholars from different schools in the region who gained knowledge and experience in applying for a job mostly in a corporate environment.

The resource speakers provided the scholars with strategies on effective job hunting strategies.

Dr. Estrella N. Perez, Dean, College of Arts and Management of DMMMSU–MLUC gave pointers on writing a presentable resume as well as tips to enhance the technical side of doing it.  Tips?

She added the importance and provided pointers on proper grooming, assertiveness, pleasant projection, and confidence when applying for a job. 

Katrina Apilado Scheib, Operations Manager of Blue Exigo, presented the scholars on handling job interviews.  She shared some tips and factors to consider for being an expert when it comes to conducting job interviews and orientation. Part of this training was a mock interview.

Ms. Scheib discussed further with the scholars her observations, comments, pointers and suggestions which she thinks will link to the scholars boost their confidence and potentials, be stand out, have the edge against other applicants more of that we have a very stiff competition of getting good and stable job. 


The seminar was graced by Regional Director of Region I, Dr. Armando Q. Ganal, the PSTD-La Union, Dr. Ismael D. Gurtiza and our Technical Service Division Science Research Specialist II, Mrs. Racquel M. Espiritu.
