NEA rates INEC performance as ‘Green’

Dingras, Ilocos Norte—The National Electrification Administration (NEA) gave the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) the highest classification in terms of performance with ‘Green’ for the last quarter of 2014. 

NEA classifies the performance of electric cooperatives through color coding: ‘Green’ being the highest followed by “Yellow-1”, “Yellow 2”, and “Red” being the lowest.

The color coding classification is the latest system tool rating of NEA in assessing the financial and operational performances of all the 121 electric cooperatives (ECs) in the country.

The performance assessment was based on good governance, leadership and management and the stakeholders.

One of the factors where INEC improved was on the attendance of member-consumers in the 2014 Annual General Membership Assembly (AGMA) which has exceeded the target of five percent of the total member-consumers.

There were 15,651 member-consumers who have attended the sequential AGMA for 2014.

NEA report shows that of the 121 ECs in the country, about 47, or 39 percent, electric cooperatives got the color green.

While the Yellow-1 classification has 50 ECs; Yellow-2, 13 ECs; and Red 11 ECs. All ratings were given in the last quarter of last year.

INEC general manager Engr. Felino Herbert P. Agdigos expressed his gratitude to all member-consumers who continuously support the plans and programs of the cooperative for the past year.

To be classified as color ‘Green’ is a manifestation that INEC is doing well based on its operations, Mr. Agdigos added.
