Batac eyes new sports complex

By Dominic B. dela Cruz Staff reporter Batac City —Mayor Albert D. Chua said this city needs its own sports complex to host sports events and other activities. In a move towards this, he requested the Sangguniang Panlungsod for an authorization to negotiate the purchase a lot to construct the complex. The mayor said, currently, they are eyeing a location at Brgy. Naguirangan here. Immediately responding, the Batac council, in a regular session held in Baguio City on February 3, 2018, tackled the mayor’s request. The council, however deferred the resolution on its second reading so they can invite the city assessor to learn more about the request. The council plans to ask the assessor about the lot’s owner as well as other information regarding it. This stemmed from their discovery that there are other lots that are also in the planned site for the sports complex but were not in the list of lots presented. Ilocos Norte needs more ambulances

By Leilanie G. Adriano Staff reporter LAOAG CITY—The Ilocos Norte government is seeking more ambulances from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO). On March 2, 2018, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan unanimously approved a resolution authorizing Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa Marcos to request for six units of ambulance. Sponsored by the committee on health and sanitation, the PCSO requires Draft Provincial Resolution 2018-02- in compliance to the provisions of the Local Government Code. According to SP member Rogelio Balbag, most of the service ambulances of all district hospitals in the province are already dilapidated and non-functional hence the need for replacement the soonest possible time. Since the PCSO is giving out ambulance to local government units as part of its commitment to help in times of need, Mr. Balbag said they allocated at least PHP3 million from the provincial development fund as a counterpart in the purchase of six units of
