DPWH 1st DEO is no. 1 in disbursement rate nationwide

By Dominic B. dela Cruz  (Staff Reporter) Laoag City —The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Ilocos Norte 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) emerged as number one in the current year disbursement rate (DR) for the first quarter of 2021. DPWH 1st DEO district engineer Maria Venus Torio announced that this is in recognition of their effectivity and efficiency in managing financial resources with a rate of 36.26 percent. “ Kapag sa disbursement rate ang pag-uusapan, mabilis kasi ang Ilocos Norte 1st DEO mag -implement ng projects at mabilis ding magbayad ,” Torio noted. Torio identified road projects and flood control projects which were easily completed unlike buildings. Completing the top 10 DEOs are Upper Kalinga, Laguna 3 rd , Zambales 2 nd , Abra, Bacolod City, Tarlac 2 nd , Pampanga 3 rd , Pangasinan 2 nd , and La Union 1 st . Laoag City council requests DPWH program of works

By Dominic B. dela Cruz ( Staff Reporter) Laoag City —To ensure proper implementation of projects, the Sangguniang Panlungsod here requested the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regional and district offices to provide the city engineering office a Program of Works (POW) on all DPWH projects in the city. Laoag Vice Mayor and council presiding officer Vicentito M. Lazo said they based their request on implemented and completed DPWH projects in the city but were found defective, which requires immediate repairs or replacement. Among those projects were the rehabilitation/concreting of the Laoag-Vintar road at Brgy. 23, this city where some sections need removal and replacement; and the San Mateo flood control project that collapsed due to below standard materials and not in accordance with the POW. DPWH Oks P56M for ‘Ompong’ damage rehab

After one year, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has approved PHP56,504,000 for the repair of infrastructure damages wrought by typhoon “Ompong”. The DPWH-Ilocos Norte Engineering District I (INED-I) made the announcement. INED I district engineer Maria Venus Torio identified the damages as the flood control structures at Brgys. Bago and Tamdagan and Sitio Baldi in Vintar; Tulnagan Bridge in Pasuquin; flood control structure in Dumalneg; and flood control structure of Brgy. Ganagan in Bacarra. Originally, the total damages assessed amounted to PHP66 million but this was reduced after a rigid evaluation and validation by the DPWH. As this developed, Ms. Torio said the project is now published for public bidding. “The cause of the delay maybe because of a series validation and revisiting on the program of works,” Ms. Torio added.

DPWH allocates P900M projects for INED-II
