Sea turtle hatchlings released in Currimao bay

By Leilanie G. Adriano Currimao , Ilocos Norte—At least 35 baby sea turtles from a guarded hatchery in a barangay in this town were guided back to the wild on Jan. 29, 2025. Engineer Erickson Biag, Currimao municipal environment officer-designate, told The Ilocos Times in a phone interview that barangay officials of Brgy. Paguludan, are monitoring the pawikan hatchery. He said the latest batch of released hatchlings are on top of the 32 hatchlings that emerged from the relocated sea turtle eggs last December, guarded to keep them safe during high tide and protect them from predators. “The pawikan eggs in the first nest were laid last December and we are counting 52 days for them to emerge and guide them back to their natural habitat,” he explained. Biag added there are two more nests at the hatchery and they are expecting them to emerge until February. New Marcos stadium policy to boost health, wellness

FREE ACCESS. The facilities of the Ferdinand E. Marcos Sports Stadium in Laoag City is free for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, students, and minors aged 17 years and below. A fee of PHP30 will be collected on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday for other visitors. Manotoc told reporters in a press conference. Grass fire razes mountainous area in Carasi

INEC adopts smart metering system in 6 pilot areas

Laoag City trike franchise amnesty

Trike franchise amnesty. Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) member and chairman of the Committee on Public Works, Transportation and Communications James Bryan Alcid and several members of the council headed by Laoag vice mayor and council presiding Officer Rey Carlos Fariñas  congratulate the first batch of 100 franchise holders whose applications for amnesty were approved during the last regular session. “Daytoy a ganwat ket maiparit a talaga ngem sapay la kuma ta maudi daytoyen ta unfair met kadagitay natudyo a franchise holders ken daytoyen iti maudi iti datoy a termino mi,” Alcid said. The amnesty program was approved by joint committees of laws and transportation through a resolution granting amnesty to the 220 franchise holders that were revoked and those who illegal sold their franchises. The multi-million worth of hybrid corn seeds, assorted vegetable seeds, rice seeds, and fertilizers, is aimed at restoring crops in lands damaged by extreme flooding and destructive winds. This initiative follows a recent assessment indicating that the typhoon impacted over 195,000 individuals across Ilocos Norte, with damages and losses reaching nearly PHP1.1 billion as of the report from the Provincial Resiliency Council dated Oct. 7, 2024. City of Batac —The provincial government of Ilocos Norte, in partnership with the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMHMC), conducted a medical mission in the City of Batac, Ilocos Norte, from Sept. 19 to 21, 2024. SGH is the largest acute care tertiary hospital in Singapore, with over 50 clinical specialties, emphasizing patient-centered care and comprehensive healthcare services, and is a leader in medical education and research. The medical team from Singapore was comprised of renown orthopedic, hand, and plastic surgeons, as well as senior nursing and allied healthcare staff.
