Comelec, DENR link up to plant trees in Marcos town [Ilocos Norte] watershed

Adriano Staff Reporter Marcos , Ilocos Norte—Over 200 saplings of narra and other native trees were planted in the mountainous barangay of Elizabeth in this town on August 22, 2019 to rehabilitate its watershed. Tessie Diego, Ilocos Norte assistant provincial election officer said that as part of the 79 th anniversary of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), all employees of Comelec joined in the simultaneous tree-plating activity nationwide.   “The tree planting activity is our simple way of promoting green environment and to inspire others to care for nature,” said Diego after climbing her way up the mountains and did her share of planting some narra seedlings amidst the threat of stormy weather that is currently battling this northern part of Luzon. Laoag City— Ilocos Norte Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa “Imee” R. Marcos filed her certificate of candidacy for senator at the Commission on Elections office in Intramuros, Manila on October 16, 2018. Lawyer says witness in Marcos mayor’s slay recants

Jason Bader Ll. Perera said. Mr. Lazo’s statement implicated detained Marcos Mayor Jessie Ermitanio. Mr. Perera is Mr. Ermitanio’s lawyer. Perera said the arresting officers allegedly intimidated the witness to make a statement against Mr. Ermitanio. He added that the witness is ready to present an affidavit recanting his previous statement in court.
