Ilocos Norte English teachers to train students in China

Adriano Staff reporter LAOAG CITY—The People’s Republic of China is bent on improving its English proficiency level as it continues to invite English-trained professionals from the Philippines to share its expertise in China. Through the newly-created Chinese Desk under the Office of the Ilocos Norte Governor, Kenny Lim bared plans to bring interested English trainers from the province to teach Chinese learners in China. Adriano Staff reporter LAOAG CITY—Owing to rampant vehicular accidents, the Land Transportation Office in cooperation with the Motorcycle Philippines Federation (MCPF) continue to conduct seminars on the basics of motorcycle riding and safety in the province. Rochito Duque, Education Program Specialist of the Department of Education-Ilocos Norte reported that more trainings on road safety will be conducted this year for teachers and students who are riding motorcycles every day. For two days, participants will learn about motorcycle riding basics, including proper protective gears, handling, balancing, starting the engine, throttle control, and start and stop exercises. Education exchange between Hawaii, Ilocos Norte schools looms

Matilde Neri, head of the Provincial Education Office under the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte confirmed this as representatives from the Farrington High School in Hawaii, United States will be flying to Manila and Ilocos Norte for the proposed Hawaii Philippines Education Exchange Program. Ms. Neri said Manila and the province of Ilocos Norte maintain sisterhood ties in view of the presence of many Filipinos or mostly Ilocanos based in Hawaii. 'Halfway' house for ex-rebels, militiamen to rise in province

Worth PHP5 million pesos and funded by the Department of Interior and Local Government, the Ilocos Norte government represented by Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa ‘Imee’ R. Marcos will be signing a memorandum of agreement with the DILG Region 1 for the construction of a halfway house for former New People’s Army (NPA) rebels. According to Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Ramon Gaoat, chair of the committee on social welfare, Ilocos Norte province has been chosen as construction site of the facility which will serve as a temporary shelter for rebel-returnees. Dingras Mayor Erdio Valenzuela announced this after representatives from the National Meat Inspection Commission (NMIC) witnessed the conduct of dry run of said high-tech slaughterhouse recently. Mr. Valenzuela said that the municipal government has complied with all the requirements set forth by the NMIC in the operation of this latest type of slaughterhouse. However, Mr. Valenzuela admitted that the required electricity power for the said slaughterhouse has not been completely installed yet because of the high voltage needed due to its three phases in butchering.
