Dagupan tops 2019 R1AA anew

Adriano Staff Reporter LAOAG CITY—The Department of Education Schools Division of Dagupan City sustained its run as the grand champion in this year’s Region 1 Athletic Association meet held March 6 to 11, 2019 in this city. Though there is no overall ranking for this year’s R1AA meet, the official medal tally results show Dagupan City received the most gold medal with a total of 87, 64 silver and 55 bronze . This is followed by Pangasinan 2 whose delegates dominated archery, badminton, table tennis, volleyball and wushu. They took home 57 gold medals, 52 silver and 43 bronze while Ilocos Norte had a close finish of 56 gold medals, 39 silver and 61 bronze respectively. Marcos II, who died of cardiac arrest last month is substituting in for her late husband’s candidacy. As the official campaign for local elections started on March 29, 2019, Mrs. Araneta-Marcos was accompanied by her sons and the Marcos family at the Commission on Elections on the same day to personally file her certificate of substitution candidacy. Commission on Elections Resolution 10420 allows substitute candidates for those who withdraw their candidacies—and not just for those who die or get disqualified—until midday of election day. Laoag City —Department of Education Region I director Dr. Malcolm Garma praised Ilocos Norte as the “best host” among all regional sports events he has attended; commending the “spectacular” opening program, well-organized playing venues, and comfortable billeting venues. Senior Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Matthew Joseph M. In a water summit held at the Centennial Arena on March 19, 2019, around 250 participants composed of farmers, policymakers, academicians, disaster risk reduction and management officers and water resource management experts participated in the formulation of a strategic plan to address environmental issues particularly on the lingering effect of El Niño. Laoag City’s Agserbi 24/7 resumes

By Dominic B. dela Cruz Staff reporter Laoag City —The city government here has resumed its “Agserbi 24/7” program. The said program, a pet project of Laoag Mayor Chevelle V. Fariñas, brings the city government closer to the people as they visit barangays around the city. With the program’s resumption, Mrs. Fariñas led the visit at Brgys. 54-B Camanggaan and 53 Rioeng. The Barangay Entrepreneurial Services (BES), otherwise known as the mobile market for the sale of goods and agricultural products. Vendors from the market and the barangays are invited. Aside from the mobile market, the city government also gives free snacks called “ Pa-chill ni Chevylle” , “ Pa-miki ni Mikee” , “ Pa-mami ni Jamie” and “ Pa-popsikel ni Jan Michael”; named after the mayor and her children . The city also gives the traditional birthday parties with free individual cakes to senior citizens.   All department office heads were advised and encouraged to participate i
