Laoag government awards 2019 Outstanding Laoagueños

DPWH-INED2 is second most eco-friendly in PH

By Dominic B. dela Cruz Staff reporter San Nicolas , Ilocos Norte – The Department of Public Works and Highways-Ilocos Norte Second Engineering District (DPWH-INED2) was named 1 st runner-up in the recently concluded national search for the 2018 DPWH Eco-Friendly District Engineering Office, otherwise known as the Environmental Management Program Sustainability. DPWH Ilocos Norte 2 nd engineering district Engr. Mathias L. Malenab said the competition is in line with the national government’s effort on environmental protection and conservation. DILG awards INPPO for anti-drug efforts

Laoag City —In light of their consistent and effective efforts to eliminate the use of illegal drugs in the province, the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO) was given the 2018 National Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Award by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) last month. In 2018, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) declared Ilocos Norte “54% drug-free,” specifically in the municipalities of Marcos, Carasi, Dumalneg, Adams, Burgos, Currimao, Banna, and Vintar, and another 279 barangays. In the last quarter of 2018, the INPPO conducted 75 drug-clearing operations which led to the arrest of 84 drug offenders, and seizure of 345 grams of marijuana and 154 grams of shabu .   According to P/Insp.
