Badoc celebrates 2024 La Virgen Milagrosa

Badoc, Ilocos Norte—The municipal government here successfully led the celebration of this year’s La Virgen Milagrosa, Baro a Badoc Festival highlighted by a series of programs and activities with the theme ‘’Panagtitinnunos en Panagkaykaysa, Tulbek Iti Natan-ok a Badoc; Napudno a Panagyaman, Ruangan Iti Natalged a Panagpapagayam’’.

The four-day celebration started on April 14, 2024 kicked off by a “Diana Around the Town” at 4:00 in the morning followed by a Thanksgiving Mass held at the Minor Basilica of Saint John the Baptist Badoc, Shrine of La Virgen Milagrosa by Reverend Father Joel Reynold P. Castillo.

On the same day was the official declaration of the opening of the Badoc Town Fiesta dubbed as “La Virgen Milagrosa, Baro a Badoc Festival’’ immediately followed by a grand motorcade and ecumenical service by the Badoc Evangelical Inter-fellowship held at PFEMSC.

In the evening was the coronation of Bb. Badoc 2024 with crowning guest Ilocos Norte Vice Governor Cecilia Araneta Marcos.

Miss Mervichelle Agbayani of Gabut Norte was the newly crowned Bb. Badoc 2024 followed by Miss Trisha Jane Fernandez as Bb. Badoc ABC, Miss Kristine Joy Mayubay as Bb. Badoc Tourism, Miss Charmane Joy Rabino as Bb. Badoc 1st runner-up and Miss Axl Monique Papel as Bb. Badoc 2nd runner-up.

On April 15,2 2024, another  Diana Around the Town and a Prayer for Badoc was held in the morning while a Farmer’s Day celebration was scheduled in the afternoon with Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Jonathan Torralba as the guest speaker.

Ilocos Norte second district Congressman Angelo Marcos Barba also served as the special guest during the Community Night and Ball.

On April 16, 2024, seven contingents competed in the magnificent and spectacular culture and traditions of the La Virgen Milagrosa, Baro a Badoc Street Dance Competition in the afternoon and Showdown in the evening with Ilocos Norte Governor Mathew Joseph M. Manotoc gracing the event.

The Department of Education (DepEd) day was also held on April 17, 2024 with Ilocos Norte Schools Division Superintendent Atty. Donato Balderas Jr as guest speaker followed by the LGBT Night featuring the coronation of Miss Gay Badoc, Inter-Barangay and a Car & Motor Show.

ABC President and Sangguniang Bayan ex-officio member Virgilio Calajate expressed his thanks to all the punong barangays and officials as a whole in their efforts and full support since day 1 of the fiesta until the last day.

He saluted all their sacrifices in participating all the programs and activities.

Calajate also congratulated the entire officialdom of Badoc for a successful conduct of this year’s festival and all the people behind its success.

Calajate likewise thanked the governor and the entire Marcos family for their continued and unending support in their contribution and legacy in the promotion of culture and the arts for the municipality of Badoc.

Provincial Treasurer and the over-all fiesta director general Josephine Calajate also thanked all the people of Badoc in joining and participating this year’s festival most especially to all those who exerted their efforts who made all the programs and activities successful.

The participation of all the municipal employees, NGO’s, private sectors and other government agencies played a big contribution during the fiesta with a special mention to the sponsors that it made it successful.

‘’Our unity and cooperation have indeed bound us all toward our shared aspirations, dreams and goals as well as our achievements”, Calajate further said in relation to this year’s fiesta theme.

She said that all the achievements and recognitions the municipal government of Badoc received was indeed a testament of both the executive and legislative hardships to make this town a progressive now and in the future.

As this year’s fiesta director general, she thanked the municipal government of Badoc especially to the municipal officials for the trust given to her and provincial tourism officer Ian Raquel for handling this year’s fiesta celebration.

Free dormitories eyed for Nueva Era students in LC, Batac
