Unity Arc welcomes R1AA delegates

By Bernard Ver Contributor Laoag City —The newly installed Unity Arc welcomed Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) meet delegates in Ilocos Norte. Provincial tourism officer Aian Raquel said the installation of the arc at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Memorial Sports Stadium symbolizes not only unity, but also the rich culture of the Ilocanos—depicting the ‘La Virgen Milagrosa de Badoc’ shrine. It has a theme: One Goal. One North! The framework was designed by architect Allan Sonajo, an in-house builder of the provincial government. It was formed thru metal panel and its shapes are probably looks like a bow of the ship. The Arc also serves as a green structure too. It carries plants. Mr. Raquel added that the artwork is detachable. “It’s semi-permanent and can be dismantled and relocated. Ilocos Norte hosts 13th Mr. International preliminary tilt

By Bernard Ver Contributor Laoag City —The Mister International 2019 Preliminary Competition took to the ramps of the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena on February 20, 2019. Forty-one handsome males all over the world vied for the prestigious title for men's world, the Mister International Crown. On their performance, they've showcased their different styles in their national costumes, swimwear, and formal wear. Mister Australia Harrison Luna, 21, won the special award as Mister International Ilocos Norte 2019, sponsored by the Provincial Tourism Office headed by Aian Raquel. Also gracing the occasion were Alan Sim, the owner of Mister International Pageant; Carlo Morris Galang, president of Prime Events Productions Philippines Foundation Inc.; Pawee Ventura of Missosology; and Laoag councilor Handy Lao, one of the pioneering sponsors of the event in the Philippines. Burgos wind farm help communities by recycling garbage

Adriano Staff Reporter Burgos , Ilocos Norte—Host communities of the largest wind power farm in this town starting to make use of their garbage wisely with proper management and constant practice. Through the Energy Development Corporation’s (EDC) corporate social responsibility program, some barangays here, particularly Brgys, Poblacion, Nagsurot and Saoit are actively engaged in the implementation of a 10-year integrated solid waste management plan which turns solid wastes into something beneficial to the community. In an interview last weekend, EDC’s CSR program head Deborah Melchor said an ecobricks workshop was conducted on February 22, 2019 here through the ECO brick Philippines which the Burgos wind farm has partnered to empower local communities on waste management. By Bernard Ver Contributor Sarrat , Ilocos Norte—Two of Adamson University Falcons’ newbies that soared high in the latest University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 81 men’s volleyball tournament are from Sarrat, Ilocos Norte. Jadewin Gudoy, 18, from Brgy. 21, Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, graduated at the Parang Elementary School. He finished his secondary education at the Sta. Rosa National High School. He is now taking-up Bachelor of Physical Education, Major in Sports and Wellness. The other one is Marc Edsel Garcia, 18, from Brgy. 1, Sarrat, Ilocos Norte. He graduated from Sarrat North Central School, then, Sarrat National High School. He is now taking-up Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports, Major in Fitness and Sports Management. The two Falcons are now official members of the collegiate men's varsity team of Adamson University.
