She's holding on so tight
Suffocating him at times
Her prize possession for life
Her trophy, her tower
But does she still love him
Like she did once
Does warmth and romance
Still exist in her heart
Or is she holding on
Just for old times
In denial of the truth
She's feeling inside
Emotional connection
Fading fast or perhaps gone
Conceivably what's left is pride
With a bit of love undefined
Ownership and entitlement
Living up to the expectations
Of obsolete social rituals
She lives on,
Showing him affection
Ways she pleases
Not realizing, it's not enough
To fill the voids in a man's heart
She hides her despair
In a life of pretense and facade
When emotional connection
Unfastened, coldness takes over
A genuine love is lost
Emptiness prevails
A poor soul, scared within
Outside she puts up a smile
Inside she's crumbling
Reassuring herself
He remains faithful
Never to give his heart away!
