BURGOS,
Ilocos Norte—In a coastal barangay in this town, volunteers with the help of
private individuals are helping fight malnutrition for children aged 0-6 years

Barangay Poblacion launched
the “adopt-a-child” program in 2011 to help underweight children gain proper
nutrition. Today, the program continues.
This year, Barangay Nutrition
Scholars (BNS) identified at least 12 underweight kids in the barangay; foster
parents have since “adopted” these children.

brought to the barangay hall. There they are given their share of full
nutritious lunch. Multivitamins, milk and other food supplements are also
provided for them.

Poblacion chairperson Joegie Jimenez, his fellow officials and him initiated
