Solsona, Ilocos
Norte--The municipal government here has realized its dream to have a new
evacuation center, and at the same serve as quarantine facility, as they held a
groundbreaking ceremony for the project on June 30, 2021 at the project site,
Brgy. Santiago, this municipality.
De Lara believes the project “will be of great help especially in
this time of pandemic as it will serve as a quarantine facility and evacuation
center in case of calamities”.
The one-storey building will sit in a lot with a total land area of
1,450 square meters; the lot is owned by the provincial government and
municipal government of Solsona, and is the municipality’s counterpart for the
project.
The Ilocos Times learned that the project has a total cost of PHP35 million and the
construction will start right after the ground breaking with JLP Construction
Supply as contractor.
After this project, De Lara said he plans to request another
isolation facility project for his town.
The said project will become an additional facility for the
municipality aside from the different barangay halls intended as multi-purpose
buildings as evacuation centers as well as barangay isolation units (BIU).
Likewise, Solsona has existing quarantine facilities located at the
executive house, senior citizen building and at the second floor of the civic
center.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Tan was represented by DPWH
Region I resident engineers Abraham Tinaza and Angelito Dian.
The event was also attended by Solsona councilors Benigno Aquino
and Jonathan De Lara as well as several punong barangays and JLP construction
supply owner Engr. Joseph Padayao.
