Solsona, Ilocos
Norte—The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) central office
thru Secretary Eduardo M. Año has formally ordered Sangguniang Bayan member
Jonathan De Lara to assume as acting vice mayor of Solsona.
De Lara’s designation, dated August 5, 2021 as acting vice mayor
of Solsona, was to fill up the temporary vacancy created in the said office due
to the assumption as acting mayor of Solsona Vice Mayor Bob Sacro.
Sacro assumed as acting mayor due to a 60-day preventive
suspension order issued to Solsona Mayor Joseph De Lara by Ilocos Norte Governor
Mathew Joseph M. Manotoc dated July 16, 2021 for an administrative case.
DILG regional director Julie J. Daquioag further informed DILG
OIC provincial director Roger P. Daquioag regarding the designation of acting vice
mayor De Lara.
Solsona Sangguniang Bayan secretary Laurence Corpuz also
announced during the last regular session that her office has already received
the De Lara’s designation.
It was also the time when De Lara formally presided over the
council’s regular session.
“Ditoy met a nangrugi akun
a nagpirma kadagitay masapulen kas kuma dgitay empliyado iti SB a saan pay nakapag suweldo,” De Lara
said.
Earlier, the council majority voted De Lara as a presiding
officer but they later voted for SB member Jovencio Pascua as temporary
presiding officer the following virtual regular session.
Daquioag said his office only received De Lara’s designation as
acting vice mayor as of press time.
Daquioag hopes that the acting vice mayors of Pagudpud Ferdinand
Garvida and Edistio Valdez in San Nicolas will follow soon.
He added that only those acting vice mayor with official
designation can sign transactions and documents pertaining to the office of the
vice mayor.
“Ket no awan pay tay
official designation ket masapul a
mapagbubutosan majority iti miyembros
iti konseho ti agbalin a temporary presiding officer,” Daquioag explained.
