Laoag City’s Brgy 15 seniors celebrates senior citizens week

The Barangay 15 Senior Citizens Association of Laoag City, Incorporated, took time to celebrate Senior Citizens Week on October 1-7, in honor of our co-elders who labored hard for the things we are enjoying now. Let us enjoy with our Lolos and Lolas while they are still with us, while we still can see, hold, embrace them while they still can celebrate with us. Let us lavish them with love. Let us talk to them visit them now, and wait not for the time when they hear us no more, our visits made before they bid us adieu. Also, to express our gratitude to others who helped will cost us nothing and take a moment of our time. Just a good tree will bring forth good fruits, so a loving heart will express itself in courtesy of conduct. Such activities make them feel stronger and prolong life to serve others and the community.

The opening day is an early morning walk around the barangay, a time to feel good, to feel cozy and nice while walking, singing, and conversing about happy times. At the finish line a reception full of good cheer and merrymaking singing and dancing, hosted by Geling Toribio.

The next three days, visited the sick, praying in grace to sustain through their most difficulties and bringing joy, much consolation and comfort to go on in spite of their lonely moments.

The other three days, we dedicated to cleaning and greening the community, clearing ditches and street adjacent our properties, beside our own yard. The whole afternoon of October 7, is the culminating activity. Highlights is the crowning of Lola Queen of 2017 Senior Citizens Week, with Pepita Tabor, as queen, crowned by the president Ernesto S. Tamayo, a retired bank manager; Celestia Tumaneng, retired staff of DSWD pinned the sash; and Merlene S. Alvarez, retired manager of the Government Service Insurance System of Vigan, I locos Sur handed the bundle of roses.

Free dormitories eyed for Nueva Era students in LC, Batac
