INEC to 'share gifts' on its 50th anniversary

Dingras, Ilocos Norte—The Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) is set to share its blessings to all the member-consumer-owners (MCOs) on its 50 years foundation anniversary with the theme “50 Years of Rural electrification, Sparking Rural Development and Progress for Member-Consumer-Owners (MCOs)”.

INEC institutional service department (ISD) manager Clemencia Cariaga announced that they will celebrate their foundation anniversary in the whole of CY 2021 thru gifts.

Cariaga said all MCOs have the chance to win daily, monthly prizes as well as the grand draw on July 7, 2021 via electronic draw upon payment of their electric bills.

Starting this February, there will be two winners of two electric fans daily per area and they will still have the chance to win one refrigerator, one washing machine, one water dispenser, two tablets and one sack of rice as prizes.in the monthly draws

On July 7, 2021, the grand prize-gift is a tricycle each for the 11 districts with a qualification that the winner should not have back accounts.

The daily and monthly winners are announced thru INEC radio programs, their website, Facebook page and area offices.

She said that only registered MCOs are qualified for the gifts because this is also one way for INEC in updating their records.

INEC employees and its Board of Directors (BODs) and any member of their families or whoever is registered in their respective electric bills are disqualified in the draw.

Relative to this, Cariaga announced that there were 80 participants who submitted entries in the logo making contest wherein winner will receive PHP15,000 and consolation prizes for the top 20 finalists.

While the video making contest is still on-going from Feb. 2 to May 14, 2021 with criteria of concept relevance (50%), cinematography/videography (30%) and screen play (20%) as criteria respectively.

The grand winner will take home PHP20,000.00 with PHP3,000.00 each will go to the top 20 selected entries.

INEC general manager Engr. Felino Herbert P. Agdigos, for his part, said the cooperative decided on this kind of celebration due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Instead of celebrating the annual general membership assembly (AGMA) in the month of March, it was decided that the funding of said celebration will be used in the purchase of gifts for MCOs for the “Golden Foundation Anniversary”.

Meanwhile, Agdigos also announced that INEC welcomes the advisory issued by the Department of Energy (DOE) to implement the “No Disconnection” policy for “lifeline customers” starting next month.

He said “lifeline customers” are those MCOs consuming 20-kilowatt hour and below per month.

However, he said that INEC is still waiting for the guidelines from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

Marcos town celebrates 3rd Pinakbet Festival

MARCOS, Ilocos Norte—Taking pride of this town ’s favorite Ilo cano dish, locally known as pinakbet, a mix of indigenous vegetables steamed in fish sauce, residents here ushered the opening of the third Pinakbet festival. “Pinakbet” came from the contracted Ilokano word ‘pinakebbet ’ which means “ shrunk ” or “shriveled.” As a way of thanksgiving, the Pinakbet festival is a repository of the town ’ s “ani” [harvest] festival being celebrated every month of March but this was later moved to December to accommodate more balikbayans wanting to join the festivity. Residents in this agricultural town derived most of their income from the harvest of high value crops, including rice, tobacco and corn as staple crops.
