Ilocos Norte governor champions employment, enterprise

Laoag City—After marking her first 100 days in office, Ilocos Norte Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos renewed her commitment to uplift Ilokano families through stronger initiatives on employment and enterprise, underscoring that true progress is achieved when people are empowered to build better lives for themselves and their communities.

Under her leadership, the provincial government of Ilocos Norte continues to strengthen programs that generate employment and support local businesses. Through initiatives such as “Mercato ni Nanay Ces” and “producer-to-consumer” trade fairs, local entrepreneurs, farmers, and artisans gain valuable opportunities to market their products, promote Ilokano craftsmanship, and grow their enterprises.

According to a report released by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Ilocos Norte recorded an employment rate of 98.7% as of December 2024, reflecting the province’s robust performance in implementing programs that promote sustainable and inclusive employment for the Ilokano community.

Highlighting its focus on the Ilokano workforce, Ilocos Norte continues to expand employment opportunities, with the province’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) recognized as the Best PESO in DOLE Region I for the third consecutive year. The award reflects its consistent success in connecting job seekers to meaningful work and skills development programs.

During her speech, she emphasized the importance of inclusive economic growth, stating, “Ilocos Norte must continue to move toward meaningful and sustainable jobs and careers. We must chart a blueprint for an economy that is pro-job, competitive, and visionary, ensuring that every Ilokano has the chance to thrive and prosper.”

In line with the administration’s commitment to providing services that every Ilokano can trust, the Provincial Government continues to implement programs that empower and uplift the lives of its people, turning the province into a “greener pasture” of opportunities where families can thrive and grow together.
