PICE-INLACC launches 2019 ‘Civil Engineering Month’

Laoag City—The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers-Ilocos Norte Laoag City Chapter kicked-off the annual celebration of the Civil Engineering month on November 17, 2019 with the theme “PICE, Building Tomorrow, Today”.

A thanksgiving mass was conducted at the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Mangato, this city followed by a Motorcade.

The yearly anticipated CE Month Basketball Tournament was launched at Mangato-B Multi-Purpose Hall. Seven teams: Associates, Builders, Highways, PICE Mixers, PICE DWCL, PICE MMSU, and PICE NWU will be competing against each other until the December 14, 2019 finale.

On the other hand, PICE-INLACC awarded financial assistance to PICE Student Chapters who will attend the 22nd National Civil Engineering Students Conference in Baguio City on November 19-20, 2019.

PICE-INLACC also organized more events for the month-long celebration.

PICE-INLACC officers will pay a courtesy call to Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Joseph Marcos-Manotoc to raise a proposal regarding the creation of Disaster Quick Response and Emergency Mitigation Assessment Team (DQREMAT).

On November 25, 2019, the “Groundbreaking and Signing of Memorandum of Agreement for the Eco-Brick Project with Energy Development Corporation-Burgos Wind Power Corporation (EDC-BWPC)” will take place in Burgos, Ilocos Norte.

PICE-INLACC Student Chapters will also undergo a seminar about the “Basics of Earthquake and Disaster-Preparedness” on November 26 at Mariano Marcos State University in Batac City, while on November 28, 2019, a “Poster Slogan Making Contest” will be conducted for the same students centered on the theme of highlighting the vital role of Civil Engineers.

The annual festivity will culminate with a radio interview with EDC-BWPC to talk about earthquake and to announce the plan of PICE-INLACC to create DQREMAT in cooperation with the Ilocos Norte provincial government.

Also, there will be a socialization night wherein the distinguished PICE-INLACC officers and members will be recognized and the winners of the Poster Slogan Making Contest for PICE INLACC Student Chapters will be awarded on November 30, 2019.

PGIN honors Ilocano heroes of past, present through Heroes Walk

Pagudpud’s tourism transformer passes away

Ricardo Nolasco Jr., owner of Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte passed away on Wednesday evening, July 11, 2018.
