DA gives 321 goats to Vintar farmers

Vintar, Ilocos Norte—The Department of Agriculture (DA) thru the Provincial Veterinary (PVet) Office distributed 321 goats to farmers here.
The farmer-beneficiaries were affected by the typhoon “Ompong” two years ago.

PVet head Dr. Loida Valenzuela led the distribution of the said goats assisted by Vintar Vice Mayor Amado Victor Rasimo and several members of the Sangguniang Bayan.

Dr. Valenzuela said the beneficiaries are farmers whose crops and animals were affected by “Ompong”.

The Ilocos Times learned that former Ilocos Norte Governor, now Senator Ma. Imelda Josefa “Imee” R. Marcos has requested this rehabilitation for farmers not only in Vintar but in the entire province of Ilocos Norte with 12,000 beneficiaries.

Dr. Valenzuela added that the goats that were distributed were bred from the province of Tarlac aside from lambs, chicken and ducks.

Mr. Rasimo thanked the national government thru Senator Marcos for the said rehabilitation program that helped Vintar farmers affected by past calamities.

The goats were given to 16 barangays, with at least 20 goats per barangay.

Meanwhile, the vice mayor said the municipal agriculture office has propagated fruit tree seedlings for distribution to the different barangays here this coming rainy season.

He also announced that the municipal government likewise received agricultural equipment from the national government which included tractors and water pumps.
