PASUQUIN, ILOCOS NORTE—The
Brgy. Catalina chairperson this town was shot dead on his way home on the evening
of December 9, 2016, a police report said.
Zosimo Corpuz, 56, a second-term
barangay chairperson was on his way home just after attending a Christmas
lantern parade in the town proper when motorcycle-riding men attacked him.
Police said the victim
incurred multiple gunshot wounds all over his body.
Investigators also recovered
at least six empty shells of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.
As of press time, police
authorities are presently conducting manhunt operation against the suspects.
Possible motive of the killing is yet to be identified.
Family members of the victim
said the village chief has no known enemy in the village which could have
probably triggered the attack. (Leilanie
