A total of 1,200 children together with
their parents visited the Ilocos Norte Capitol on October 26 for the
trick-or-treating as part of the province’s Halloween festival, Semana ti
Ar-aria.
Organized by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, the
Capitol employees had transformed their offices into houses of horror and
opened them at exactly 3 pm for a huge crowd of Ilocano kids who graced the
event in their spookiest costumes.
Carrying their candy bags, the kids entered the offices with
courage and went out with sweet treats; some, however, were scared and
stepped-out crying.
Aside from trick or treating, this year’s event for the kids and
kids at heart was incorporated with Bone Hunting where kids collect the bones
hidden in some parts of the route which started at the La Tabacalera Ilocano
Lifestyle Center.
According to Provincial Tourism Officer, Ianree Raquel, the
capitol was the venue for the activity because it is an opportunity to open up
the building for all the kids.
The event concluded with an awarding ceremony where kids who
wore the best Halloween costumes, cutest ar-aria
[ghost], healthiest ar-aria, and
scariest ar-aria were awarded with
prizes. While successful bone hunters were also awarded with special prizes.
Ilocos Norte Governor Ma. Imelda “Imee” R. Marcos who graced the
event also expressed her excitement seeing the surging number of kids
participate, the largest compared to previous years, who participated the third
instalment of the said event in their own Halloween costumes.
