The Department of Trade
and Industry-Province of Ilocos Norte launched the shared service facility for wearables
to the Loomweavers of San Jose Multi-Purpose
Cooperative at Brgy. 20, San Jose in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte on June 16, 2015 .
The shared service facility project
worth P275,000 is composed of three units counter balance looms, six pieces of stainless
metal reeds # 36 DPI for 60” weaving width; two
pieces of stainless metal reeds # 25 DPI for 60” weaving width and one warping
board.
The launching program was
attended by Florante O. Leal, DTI Region I Director; Engr. Benjamin M. Garcia,
Jr., DTI Ilocos Norte provincial director; Atty. Rolando O. Lay-at, chief administrative
officer of DTI Region 1 and other DTI Ilocos Norte staff.
Also present during the launch
was Sarrat Mayor Edito Alberto G. Balintona and the members of the San Jose MPC
headed by cooperative chairperson Eddie Claro.
During the launce, Mr. Leal
committed to provide more looms under the SSF Program to the loomweavers of
Brgy, San Jose. Mr. Balintona, on the other hand, urged the members to support
each other in order for the project to succeed.
Mr. Claro expressed his gratitude
for the assistance extended to them and expressed his hope that more projects would
be given to the cooperative.
The provision of the SSF shall
greatly improve the quality of binakol.
The members can now weave wider materials for cloth, blankets and tapestries.
Likewise, this shall improve the productivity and efficiency of the industry. (DTI-Ilocos Norte)
