LAOAG CITY—Ilocos Norte residents led by Governor Ma.
Imelda “Imee” R. Marcos lauded 10 year-old Mhage Gerriahlou F. Sebastian for winning
the gold medal in the recent 16th Asean Age Group Chess
Championships held at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
Ms. Sebastian, who hails from Binsang, Pasuquin town won
gold in individual standard category and silver in team category as a member of
the Philippine team.
Ms. Marcos personally congratulated Ms. Sebastian and her
family for bringing pride to Ilocos Norte.

At her young age, Ms. Sebastian has always been a constant
achiever in chess, representing the Philippines in age-group chess
championships. Among her memorable tournaments include her international
tournaments in Macau and Thailand.
In Ilocos Norte, the provincial government continue to
support local athletes by providing due recognition and financial assistance in
the pursuit of their career.
“To all those who supported and still willing to support
our very own daughter Mhage Fernandez Sebastian in her quest for greater
glory in the realm of chess, may you be blessed more. Ang inyong mga panalangin, tulong at panubay sa tuwing may laban si Mhage ay sumasapat na po para matugunan ang ambisyon niya na mas umangat pa
ang level at muli’t muli ang pagiging
miyembro n’ya sa Philippine Team at
kalaunan makapagbigay ulit karangalan sa Pilipinas,” said Jerzon Sebastian
who accompanied Mhage in Singapore.
