Laoag
City—With the midterm election coming in
May, the Philippine National Police reshuffled police chiefs all over the
country.
In Laoag City, P/Supt. Mar
Louise Bundoc was named the city’s police officer-in-charge.
Mr. Bundoc paid a courtesy
call to Laoag Mayor Chevylle V. Fariñas as he reported for duty.
After the courtesy call, Mr.
Bundoc said in an interview that his priority programs in the city will be his
“strong campaign” against illegal drugs and peace and order.
To achieve this, Mr. Bundoc
appealed for the cooperation of everybody, especially the barangay officials
and tanods to report at the nearest police assistance centers or police
outposts any illegal activities or crimes that transpire in their respective
barangays.
However, Mr. Bundoc also
learned that there are now only a few illegal drug personalities in the city;
he stressed that his main concern now is to let these personalities surrender.
The police OIC also said that
the public is free to report any illegal wrong doings with any member of the
PNP “Tapnu maamwan no adda met madi nga
ar-aramiden da”.
He also announced the
continuous conduct against illegal gambling in the city.
“Iti kapulisan ket awan kinikilingan na. Basta ipatungpal mi iti linteg
a naimandato kanyami. Ket amin a politico ditoy ket rebbeng mi nga ikkan iti
proteksyon da amin. Ket no siasinno man iti agaramid iti madi ket maikkan iti
karampatang nga atensyon,” Mr. Bundoc said with regards to the coming
election.
Mr. Bundoc hopes that with
his leadership at the city’s police office, the election will remain peaceful
and orderly in the city this coming May.
Relative to this, Mr. Bundoc
disclosed that there was no request yet for security for any of the candidates
as far as election is concerned.
He also said that the police
can only accommodate or entertain security requests for a politician after
their threat assessment.
During the first day of the
election period on January 13, 2019, the Laoag police conducted a simultaneous checkpoint
in all the main entrance and exit points in the city, with focusing on the gun
ban.
Mr. Bundoc started his new
assignment as OIC in Laoag effective January this year.
Former Laoag police OIC P/Supt.
Dominic Guerrero was reassigned to the La Union Police Provincial Office as La
Union Provincial Mobile Force Company Head under the Internal Security
Operations and Peace and Order, Mr. Bundoc’s former assignment.
New DILG officer
The city’s interior and local government officer also paid a
courtesy call to Mrs. Fariñas as she reported for duty.
City Local Government
Operations Officer VI Janet Duarte thanked the city government officials for
their “warm welcome” as she said she embraces the opportunity to work with the
“strong” people of Laoag.
She said her office will
continue the present programs and operations at the city DILG office and will
only improve them if necessary.
Laoag former interior and
local government officer Engr. Andres Vendiola was reassigned to Ms. Duarte’s
former post in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.
Ms. Duarte’s assignment to
Laoag was dated January 3, 2019 but it only took effect on January 7, 2019 as
she awaited clearance from the local government concerned as well as for the
official turnover of the office.
Relative to the coming
election, Ms. Duarte reminded all barangay officials to be a non-partisan.
Ms. Duarte has already served
once in the city DILG office. At that time, she was just a staff of the
interior and local government officer.
