EXCERPT FROM THE RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS OF THE 70TH REGULAR SESSION OF THE 9th SANGGUNIANG PANLUNGSOD OF LAOAG HELD AT THE SANGGUNIANG PANLUNGSOD SESSION HALL ON DECEMBER 22, 2014.
     WHEREAS, the prevailing market fees was passed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod way back in January 8, 1998 through City Ordinance No. 98-001 otherwise known as “1998 Public Market and Slaughterhouse Code of Laoag City”;
     WHEREAS, more than sixteen (16) years has elapsed since its enactment, rendering the rates stipulated therein obsolete particularly pertaining to Sec. 29 thereof;
     WHEREAS, the Local Government Code mandates the increase of the market rates every five (5) years and it has become imperative that revision should be made on the present rates to incorporate the modern market rates now adopted by other local governments;
     WHEREAS, the City Treasurer has also recommended for the immediate revision of the market code and further proposed the rates as contained below;
     NOW THEREFORE, upon motion of Hon. Ferdinand L. Domingo, duly seconded by Hon. Mikee V. Fariñas, the body, resolved as it is hereby resolved to enact the following:

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SEC. 29, ARTICLE II, CHAPTER 3 OF CITY ORDINANCE NO. 98-001 (TAX ORDINANCE 98-01), SERIES OF 1998 ENTITLED “AN ORDINANCE ENACTING THE MARKET AND SLAUGHTERHOUSE CODE OF LAOAG CITY”
     BE IT ENACTED THAT
SECTION 1. Sec. 29.  Article II, Chapter 3 is hereby amended accordingly as follows:
Article II – MARKET ENTRANCE FEES
     Section 29. A Market Entrance Fee is hereby imposed on all commodities or merchandise herein identified/classified which is being brought into the public market for sale on the basis of measurement herein indicated, or any other convenient unit of measurement, at the rates herein indicated:

     Likewise, all other containers not included herein shall also fall under the same classification as that of other containers which may be more or less of the same size, the same value of the goods contained or the same bulk or volume.
     Section 2.  All Ordinances, Resolutions, motions, or parts thereof not consistent herewith are hereby repealed, amended or superseded accordingly.
     Section 3.  This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
