All 92 Laoag child development centers set for repainting

LAOAG CITY—The city government of Laoag has expressed its appreciation to Davies Paints Philippines Inc. for supporting the repainting of all 92 Child Development Centers (CDCs) across the city.

Laoag councilor Donald Nicolas said the Sangguniang Panlungsod has authorized Laoag Mayor James Bryan Q. Alcid to enter into and sign a tripartite agreement with Liga ng mga Barangay President and ex-officio Sangguniang Panlungsod member Roque Benjamin C. Ablan and Davies Paints Philippines Inc., represented by Vice President for Business Development Engr. Maria Rosario Quintos.

Under the proposed agreement, Davies Paints will donate 450 pails of paint valued at PHP1.3 million for the repainting of the city’s 92 CDCs.

Nicolas said the project responds to the need to maintain and improve the facilities where young children receive early childhood care and development services. Repainting the centers will help improve their physical condition and provide children with a cleaner and more presentable environment for learning and development.

The CDCs serve as important community-based facilities for young learners and are supported by local government and barangay officials in providing early childhood care and development services.

Nicolas said the partnership between the city government, the Liga ng mga Barangay and the private sector demonstrates how cooperation can help address the maintenance needs of public facilities while reducing the financial burden on government.

He said the initiative also supports the government’s responsibility to promote the holistic well-being, growth and dedicated care of every child, consistent with the policy set out under the Philippine Constitution and Republic Act No. 12199, or the Early Childhood Care and Development System Act.

The law recognizes the importance of safeguarding children’s welfare and providing appropriate support during the different stages of their development.

For the city government, Nicolas said maintaining the CDCs is not only a matter of improving the appearance of the buildings but also of ensuring that the facilities remain suitable for the children, daycare workers and families who use them.

Ablan said the Liga ng mga Barangay will facilitate and supervise the repainting activities in coordination with the concerned barangay officials to ensure that the donated materials are properly distributed and utilized.

He expressed appreciation to Davies Paints for extending its support to all 80 barangays and said the improvement of the CDCs would benefit communities across the city.

Ablan also conveyed his thanks on behalf of the 80 Punong Barangays, who he said are grateful for the assistance that will help improve their respective child development centers.

The project will cover all 92 CDCs in Laoag, making it a citywide initiative intended to provide more uniform and improved facilities for children regardless of barangay.

Nicolas said the partnership is an example of how government and private institutions can work together to support programs that directly benefit children and communities.
