Nueva Era distributes assistance, livestock to scholars and residents

NUEVA ERA, Ilocos Norte—The municipal government of Nueva Era distributed educational assistance to 216 scholars under the Arapaap Dagiti Agtutubo ken Laing (ADAL) Scholarship Program on August 31, 2026 at the People’s Center, highlighting its continuing support for education, community welfare and livelihood development.

Nueva Era Mayor Aldrin Garvida led the activity, joined by Nueva Era Vice Mayor Caroline Arzadon Garvida, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, Sangguniang Kabataan officials, parents, guardians and other stakeholders.

The scholars received educational assistance from the municipal government, with additional support from SK funds. The activity also included the oath-taking of the newly elected officers of the ADAL Scholarship Program.

The distribution formed part of activities held in connection with Mayor Garvida’s birthday, which also featured various forms of assistance and incentives for residents.

Senior citizens, birthday celebrants, barangay health workers and barangay tanods received incentives, while rice was distributed to heads of families. Maintenance medicines were also provided to residents with non-communicable diseases.

“Through strong leadership and collective action, we continue to bring services closer to the people, uplift lives, and strengthen our beloved community,” Garvida said.

In another initiative, the LGU turned over heifers and a bull to ADAL scholars as part of its effort to provide livelihood opportunities alongside educational assistance.

Garvida said the livestock project is intended to help scholars develop practical skills in managing resources and build a source of livelihood that could benefit their families in the future.

“As we support our scholars today, we help them build a brighter and more productive tomorrow. Together, we continue to plant the seeds of progress, nurture opportunities, and harvest hope for generations to come,” he said.

The municipal government said the initiatives reflect its broader efforts to invest in education, health, social welfare and sustainable livelihood opportunities for the people of Nueva Era.
