LAOAG CITY— Fifty-nine police investigators from various police stations in the province who underwent a 45-day Criminal Investigation Course (CIC) will graduate at the Plaza del Norte and Convention Center on September 9.

Now on its second batch of graduates, the Ilocos Norte police investigators are expected to enhance their investigative skills and contribute in the increase of crime solution efficiency here.

On Sept. 4, another victim identified as Flor Jose from Vintar, Ilocos Norte was found dead at Barangay Bingao in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte. As of press time, police authorities have yet to identify the motive of the killing.

P/Sr. Supt Antonio Mendoza Jr., officer-in-charge of the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO), said the training is very important to level up investigators’ basic knowledge and equip themselves on technical procedures in investigation, which is one of the reasons why some of the criminal cases filed in court are being dismissed due to technical flaws.

The closing ceremony of Class 02-2014R1 will be attended by Ilocos Norte Governor Ma. Imelda “Imee” R. Marcos as guest of honor and speaker.

Earlier, Ms. Marcos urged the police to constantly update themselves on the latest laws, rules and regulations pertaining to crime investigation.

Based on the latest status of peace and order in the province, crime clearance now stands at 73 percent.

“We never take peace and order for granted. Anti-criminality, community intelligence, operations and use of technology and forensic science all have to be prioritized. If possible, we should light up all streets in the entire province to discourage criminals,” Ms. Marcos said.

Through a lifelong training particularly among police personnel who had no police education degree way back in college, the PNP hopes the crime solution efficiency will increase further.
