“REVIVE, rebuild, reconnect and restore DWCLCAAH Chapter 2 in
the spirit of community service and volunteer works” were the chosen words as
appropriately described the motivation why DWCLCAAH must stand up and go for
another chapter.
It was intended to hold series of small group meeting on May 16,
2015 at the Apple tree Restaurant in Kalihi.
At
3pm the meeting was called to order by this writer [founding president 1990]. I
gave a brief background of the association as organized on May 13, 1990. But
for some reason and circumstances DWCLCAAH became inactive. It’s been inactive
and no meetings for several months to a year now was held, and as such is
considered dormant, as some former officers resigned, therefore, reviving or
reorganizing it is necessary in order to continue its 25 years in existence. DWCLCAAH marked its 25th
year on May 13, 2015, and now a history with ups and downs; with failures, yet,
had successfully contributed and accomplished so much for the community to name
a few: scholarship to a deserving student at DWCL Laoag; community service here
in Hawaii; feeding the homeless projects; adopt-a-highway, Hawaii food bank; OFCC/UFCH
involvement; the 2010 Census; the two successful international/global reunion, and
many others. Those are part of its record and history under various leadership with
different styles and approaches.
In
attendance on May 16, 2015 as coordinated by Jesse Pascual were Amado Yoro,
Esther Pascual, Estelita Dela Cruz, Francisco Bitagon, Glory Ronduen, Jesse
Pascual, Art Abinsay, Cora Salvador, Nena Lacar and Rosita Calip.
Let
the past 25 years--now a history—and for this reorganizational meeting to be
the Chapter 2 and start all over for its new beginning—life and new opportunities
with a new set of officers. Interim officers will start all over and putting
things together, and following meetings will be participated in by others who
still wants to be a member.
Theme: Yes, We are still in the GO and take an Active
Role in Noble Purpose
Interim
Officers [directors] was chosen: Jesse
Pascual- President; Amado Yoro- Executive Vice President; Esther Pascual- 1vp; Nena
Lacar-Secretary; Cora Salvador- Asst. Secretary; Rosita Calip - Treasurer; Glory Ronduen- Asst. Treasurer; Estelita
Dela Cruz- Auditor; Art Abinsay – PRO ; Francisco Bitagon- Honorary Liaison
Hawaii-Philippines.
These
officers will serve from May 2015 to April 2016.
The
program of activities is to celebrate a Silver Anniversary sometime in
September or October this year; resume the scholarship program; preparation for
the 3rd International Reunion in Laoag in 2016.
This time around, four of the
original organizers feel and believe that the second chapter is important to
put on record; as another life, another chance, hope to be better, to excel the
past as we have learned a lot lessons: these originals: Amado Yoro, Jesse Pascual, Esther Pascual and Nena Lacar were
very available and with time to attend the first meeting that was held on May
17, 2015. As a start for a second round, we did, and we are open, its open—series
of small meetings will be held, for those former, and for new, let us know. Let’s
have DWCLCAAH Chapter 2 move on.
