7 PGIN scholars graduate as cum laude

seven college scholars of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) are set to graduate with honors or cum laude this schoolyear.

Of the 115 honor graduates to lead a total of 1,972 graduating students to march at the sunken garden of the government-run Mariano Marcos State University on April 3, seven are academic scholars of the provincial government.

The honor graduates under the “Iskolar ni Manang Imee” scholarship program are: Moises Calastravo, BS in Accounting, Ulysses Gaybay, B Secondary Education, Maricar Ulep, BS in Business Management major in Management Accounting, Jun Carlos Maruquin, BS in Biology, Riolyn Manibog, BS in Business Administration major in Management Accounting, Rolando Luberio, BS in Biology and Henerose Tumamao, BS in Business Administration major in Tourism Management.

June Arvin C. Gudoy, Communication and Media Office chief of the provincial government reported this saying graduating scholars of the Ilocos Norte government will also be given a separate recognition courtesy of Ilocos Norte Governor Ma. Imelda “Imee” R. Marcos to motivate and inspire other students to excel in their chosen field of endeavor.

“The achievement of our scholars only shows that they deserved their scholarship and we are proud of them,” Gudoy said.

Aside from the recognition, Gudoy said the provincial government is also offering job assistance for new graduates.

“We will try to assist them to find work because we also want them to land a better job after graduation,” he said.

At present, the Ilocos Norte government has less than 300 college scholars and officials are planning to expand the number to 1,000 scholars this coming schoolyear.

Aside from academic scholars, the provincial government is also pushing for the scholarship grants of students who excel in extracurricular activities.


A provincial government scholar should maintain an average grade of 2.25 and receives a monthly stipend and book allowance.

Free dormitories eyed for Nueva Era students in LC, Batac
