Maria Cristina White wins second term as Santiaguenians Association of Hawaii president

Maria Cristina White was reelected and confirmed as president of the Santiaguenians Association of Hawaii. She took her oath of office before the Honorable Brandon Elefante, member of the Honolulu Council during the Christmas Gala night at the Banyan Ballroom, Hale Koa Hotel on December 21, 2014, witnessed by guests from the cross section of the community
According to Ms. White, Santiaguenians Association of Hawaii was organized in 1983 by Primitiva “Prima” Escalona. With other co-organizers, SAH’s Main objectives is to unite the former residents of Santiago, Ilocos Sur who are now residing in Hawaii; to foster good relationship among themselves here in abroad; to help provide scholarship to their deserving students children; to give donation to the bereaved family of their members and to give donations to the co-members repatriating to the Philippines [Santiago] for good.

Other officers and representatives installed to serve 2015-2017 are: Thomas Quintos, first vice president; Rudolfo Etrara, second vice president; Elsie Valdez, secretary; Minda Olney, assistant secretary; Evangeline Ragma, treasurer; Rose Frando, assistant treasurer; Alex Vergara, auditor; Heidi Agbulos, assistant auditor; Maximo Pasion and Bert Bongolan, press relations officers; Thomas Frando and Corazon Gaborno, business managers and; Dominic Escalona, Roger Escalona, Oscar Gaborno, Almeda Pasion, Casimiro Pasion, Raymundo Ragma, Simeon Sabado, Letty Sacular and Helen Valdez, sergeants-at-arms.

Advisers are: Emerita Etrata, Baltazar Echalae, Heidi Agbulos and Juanito Ganibe.

District representatives: Honolulu I District I, Teresita Pasion and Rosita Pasion; Honolulu II District, Ernie Galzoto and Cathy Hashida; Honolulu III District, Cora Gaborno. Honolulu IV District, Mary Rondero; Honolulu V District, Divina Sabado and Minnie Garcia; Honolulu VI District, Estelita Pasion; Aiea District, Tina Elefante and Asuncion Elefante; Halawa District, Vangie Ragma; Kalihi District I, Linda Echalas; Kalihi District II, Jessie Aquino; Mililani District; Thomas Frando and Rose Frando; Wahiawa District, Rosita Carranza and Lety Sacula and; Waipahu District, Fely Ganibe and Bert Bongolan

The program was emceed by Teri Sagaysay, a former Mrs. Ilocos Surian runner up, and an active member of Santiaguenians Assn of Hawaii [SAH] served as emcee with Rev. Raymund Ellorin leading the national anthems and opening prayer.

First Vice president Thomas Quintos delivered the welcome address.

Highlights of the program were entertainment songs and dances as well as the presentation of scholarship Awards.

SAH is a very supportive to the ISAH Medical Mission and the Ilocos Surian Association 2nd President Elpidio Quirino Humanitarian Award 2015 and Mrs. ISAH 2015.

Who is Maria Cristina? Let me quote her when the first time I met her at our ISAH board meeting.

Maria Cristina has a goal to bring SAH to remain visible to the community and to be more active and play a vital role in an important community projects to make a difference. She wants to get involve in certain community service such as the feeding the homeless and the adopt-a-highway projects. “I have so much respect and admiration of you for what endeavors you are doing as you giving back to the community”, Cristina said. “I have so much learned from you as an organizer and community leader”


SAH now is one of the newest organizations getting involved with the OFCC/UFCH partnership Mission Day Service organized and coordinated and by the OFCC Special Projects chaired by this writer thru UFCH 2010-001 Resolution.

Pagudpud’s tourism transformer passes away

Ricardo Nolasco Jr., owner of Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte passed away on Wednesday evening, July 11, 2018.
