Batac
City—Mayor Jeffrey Jubal Nalupta that they
are now all set for the 7th Farmers’ Festival on May 1-7, 2015.
Mr. Nalupta said the festival
is a thanksgiving celebration for the Almighty for giving abundant farm
production in the city.
The festival, he added is
also a way of thanking Batac farmers for continuously upgrading their farming
inputs.
The festival, which began in
2008, is also one of the grandest festival in the city as it showcases the
different agriculture activities here, the mayor stressed.
A thanksgiving mass will be
held on May 1 at the Immaculate Conception Parish followed by the formal opening
ceremony of the 7th Farmers Festival.
Decorated carosa’s will be
paraded and the search for the Most Fabulous Carabao is set on May 2.
One of the festival
highlights is the first ever Search for Balasang ti Away [Maiden of the Farm]
“Plus Size Edition” 2015. “Plus Size” refers to healthier and bigger women.
A farmers’ festival ball is
set on May 3 and the judging of the “Pinaka” crops and a competition of Aweng
Ni Batacqeno Kundiman Edition will be on May 4.
The farmers will also be
given the chance to talk with city officials and Dept. of Agriculture personnel
in a farmers’ forum on May 5, where a Bingo Aliwan will also be held on the
same day.
On May 6 will be the pre-judging
of floats, final judging of booths and exhibits and the grand parade, carosa
parade and parade of floats.
The last day of the festival,
May 7, will be for the awarding of winner and the distribution of hybrid of
vegetable seeds and subsidized palay seeds.
The mayor promised that this
celebration will be the most exciting event of the year for the city as innovations
will be added.
He said all the farming
barangays here are encouraged to join in all the activities especially in the
grand parade of floats which will made up from indigenous materials.
This is where the farmers would
bring their innovativeness in the float decorations made up of indigenous
materials that are available in their respective barangays, he added.
While the poblacion barangays
particularly the barangay officials were also encouraged to attend the grand
parade to support the importance of the farming barangays as they are the ones
producing food for the people.
