Batac
City—The seven year old city of Batac
garnered high ratings in the Citizen’s Satisfaction Index System (CSIS).
CSIS measures citizens’ satisfaction
on the basic services of the government.
The eight basic services in
the index are health, education, governance and response, infrastructure and
public works, social services, environment, tourism and agriculture.
Mariano Marcos State
University (MMSU) professor Lea Ballesteros said the CSIS is a tool designed by
the Dept. of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to measure the satisfaction
rates of the people to the LGU on the eight basic services.
Relative to this, the DILG
commissioned the MMSU thru the Local Research Institute (LRI) for the research
through questionnaires in random sampling of Batac residents.
The result of the over-all
assessment, Ms. Ballesteros said, showed Batac garnered high rating from its citizens.
In simpler terms, she said
Batac residents are fully satisfied with the basic services rendered by the
city government.
Ms. Ballesteros stressed that
the CSIS is not a competition for LGUs but a yardstick to measure the pulse of
the citizenry on the delivery and quality services rendered to them provided by
the local government.
Of the 52 top cities
nationwide, Batac was included in the CSIS program identified by the national
competitiveness council.
City interior and local
government officer Janet Duarte thanked the MMSU professors through the LRI in
the conduct of research.
Ms. Duarte likewise expressed
her happiness with the high rating considering that Batac is one of the top 52
cities nationwide picked for the CSIS program.
She added that the CSIS
results show that the current administration headed by Batac Mayor Jeffrey
Jubal C. Nalupta satisfies their constituents in the delivery of basic
services.
Batac Vice Mayor Ronald Allan
M. Nalupta for his part, also thanked to all the people behind the research which
gave Batac City an over-all assessment of “high standards in the delivery of
basic services”.
Mr. Nalupta said the research
serves as a guide for the city and at the same time a challenge to some
services which were given lower ratings.
