A home they can now call their own, finally.

The Ilocos Norte Civil Service Commission (CSC) inaugurated its new two-storey building on September 30 in time for the culminating celebration of the 113th Philippine Civil Service.

For 28 years, the CSC Ilocos Norte field office kept its office at the Ilocano Heroes Hall but when a national grocery chain leased the whole building from the provincial government, the CSC and a host of other offices were advised to transfer.

As a result, the field office was temporarily housed at the Mariano Marcos State University Laoag Campus, at the Graduate School building to be precise as construction of the CSC building that began in 2003 was resumed.

The building was constructed on a 200 square meter lot donated by the Ilocos Norte government.

The construction was completed on August 24, 2013. With a total funding of P2.7 million, former Rep. Roque B. Ablan Jr. also donated P300,000 for its construction.

Commissioner Robert Martinez, who served as guest speaker during the inaugural ceremony said the new home of the CSC is a “change for the better that forms part of the new changes at the CSC.” He urged civil servants to continue serving the community and promote “heroism” in public service.
