She said the activity they have selected would be the longest boodle fight chain in history where they would include all of the city’s 80 barangays. They are also eyeing the involvement of other government agencies, non-g0vernment organizations, and private entities.

Ms. Fariñas stressed that since Laoag has already won many national awards, it is now time to take a shot at one of the records in the Guinness Book of World Records.

She explained that the boodle fight would encourage all the people of Laoag to eat together as one regardless of their status to show unity.

She added that she also considers this activity as one way of thanking everyone for their cooperation in helping the city attain all success in the past 50 years as Laoag became one of the most progressive cities in the country.

The planned boodle fight would be held during the fiesta celebration and would serve as one of the main fiesta highlights.

Ms. Fariñas also said that they expect the influx of both foreign and domestic tourists for the fiesta.

In line with this, she has also instructed the fiesta committees to also include the tourism aspect in their preparation, especially in terms of accommodation and food.
