The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office 1 (OWWA RWO1) met with the members of the media at a restaurant in San Fernando City, La Union on December 11, 2014 to announce its upcoming institutional events and give updates on the various programs and services offered by OWWA.

The press conference was attended by 18 representatives from various media outfits which include the print, radio and television.

Included on the topics discussed during the conference were the celebration of the 2014 OFW Family Day, the National Awarding of the Model OFW Family  of the Year Award, program updates like the extended coverage of the Financial Relief Assistance Program (FRAP) for repatriated OFWs from Libya. Concerns regarding intensifying the delivery of programs and services of OWWA to OFWs and their families were also given clarification.

The event aims to equip the members of the media with up-to-date and relevant information as the agency recognizes their significant role in disseminating information to people particularly to the OFW clientele.

Partnership between OWWA RWO1,being the lead government agency that promotes the welfare of OFWs and their families, and the Media, being the prime source of information of people, would ensure the timely delivery of programs and services to OFWs and their families. (OWWA RWO1)
