Dingras, Ilocos Norte—The Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) has announced a .67 centavos decrease of power rates for the September billing.

Records show that the residential rates for August was P9.99 while the September rate has been pegged at P9.32.

It also follows that the rates for small and large commercial, industrial, irrigation, public buildings and street lights would also be lower.

INEC general manager Engr. Felino Herbert P. Agdigos said the lower power rates was due to the lower prices from power distributors.

Mr. Agdigos hopes that this will continue in the following months, especially since the province has just been battered by a strong typhoon.

Mr. Agdigos also disclosed that INEC had a better efficiency report for September. August losses were pegged at P11.46 while September recorded an P11.46 loss, or a 0.06% difference.

Meanwhile, INEC board president Reynaldo M. Lazo clarified that the information naming the top 10 delinquent INEC consumers was not true.

Mr. Lazo said the list that was released was not from INEC.

In this regard, Mr. Lazo asked the members of the local media to be more circumspect in releasing unverified information.

Nasakit iti nakem ko ta ag-reflect kadakami a board of directors ken iti management nga agipablaak tayo iti information a haan met a pudno ken haan nga official”, Mr. Lazo said.

Laoag mayor Chevylle V. Fariñas, for her part also expressed surprise with the list, which put the Laoag City Hall in the top 1o as she stressed that there is a pending case between Laoag and INEC with regards to the franchise tax issue.

Ms. Fariñas stressed that the bills in questioned may have been in the past since the city government is updated in its payment of its power bills.
