APOLINAC Awards

(In this issue, we are publishing the implementing guidelines for the APOLINAC Alumni Awards. Nominations forms are available at the CMO of the Ilocos Norte Provincial Capitol. Please look for Bro. Marino Guieb. May we always be!)

Rationale:
The purpose of the Outstanding Alumni Awards is to recognize APOLINAC for their exceptional professional or academic achievements as well as those who contributed time, talent and efforts in enhancing the name of APO and APOLINAC. It is also intended to distinguish alumni who made significant contribution in specific advocacies or endeavours making their local or bigger community a better place to live. The awards are presented during the APOLINAC Night during the Grand Reunion and Homecoming of APOLINAC.
 
Objectives:
To recognize members for their exceptional professional or academic achievement, as well as those who supported the cause of APOLINAC in various ways.

To acknowledge members who have been successful in other endeavours such as industry, practice, corporate, governance, business or entrepreneurship, government service, social development, environment protection, etc., thereby contributing to the community at the local, regional, national or international levels.

Implementing guidelines:
The Outstanding Alumni/Excellent Awards is intended to honor APO graduates who distinguished themselves with high level of achievements in their field of discipline, and /or recognized service to the local, regional, national or international community in such areas as industry, corporate governance, business or entrepreneurship, government service, social development, environment protection, etc., and that this or her successes and accomplishments has enhanced the image of APO.

Nominations for the awards may be submitted by another alumnus/na.

Overseas APOLINAC members may also be nominated or be nominators for the awards. This will give equal opportunity for overseas workers or residents to be nominated or to be nominators for the awards.

An alumnus/na may be nominated for performance outside or not related to the degree they have earned.

The nominator is expected to furnish the Awards Committee all information in addition to the basic information data of the nominee, particularly those related to service to community within or outside the nominee’s professional area. Copies of objective documentary evidence of achievements or accomplishments of the nominee may accompany the nomination form in behalf of the nominee. These documentations shall be the major bases in determining the awardees.

A nominator can only nominate one nominee.

Nomination forms may be obtained from Bro. Marino Guieb at the Communications and Media Office of the Ilocos Norte Provincial Capitol. Duly accomplished nomination forms, likewise, must be submitted to the same.

Selection criteria:
The final selection process in choosing the recipients of the awards is at the discretion of the Awards Committee.

In considering the nomination for the Outstanding Alumni, the committee will consider the following:

1. Evidence of professional and personal development activities to enhance individual competencies. This refers to the degrees earned and/or current position in their work. (50 points)

2. Evidence of contribution to the academe or research, with focus on outcomes and innovation, through practice and academic achievement. This refers to awards conferred in relation to work to be classified. (20 points)

3. Evidence of contribution to the local, regional, national or international community in such areas as industry, corporate governance, business or entrepreneurship, government service, social development, environment protection. This refers to community service, participation in civics, etc. (20 points)

4. Evidence that the individual’s contributions typify and personify the philosophy, mission, vision and core values of APO. (10 points)

For nominees who do not fit into these categories, like business people, sports men, actors, artists, musicians, etc., the committee shall consider their nomination on the basis of their continuing achievements and ultimately selected based on their exceptional pre-eminence. When necessary, the committee shall consult those with specialist knowledge.

Selection procedure—Nominators will examine all nominations and make recommendations to the Committee for final judging, which will involve a final assessment of the nominee’s qualification and performance. Nominators must ensure that all necessary documents are submitted.

Awards committee:
The Committee shall be composed of the following members, who are not nominators:

Chairman - Bro. Marino Guieb; Ex Officio Member – Past/Present President of APOLINAC; Member – APOLINAC Representative; Member – APOLINAC Representative.

The decision of the Committee shall be final and non-appealable.

Free dormitories eyed for Nueva Era students in LC, Batac

P29 per kilo rice sold to vulnerable groups in Ilocos region
