The National Food Authority
(NFA) Council elected Renan B. Dalisay as NFA administrator. Mr. Dalisay was special
assistant for NFA concerns to Presidential Assistant for Food Security and
Agricultural Modernization Francis Pangilinan before he was appointed by
President Benigno Aquino III as member of the NFA Council.
A graduate of BS Political
Science in the University of the Philippines, Mr. Dalisay was also the chief staff
of Senator Pangilinan at the Senate from 2001 to 2013.
In his capacity as special assistant
to the co-chairman of congressional Oversight Committee on Agriculture and
Fisheries Modernization, Mr. Dalisay co-convened the Agriculture and Fisheries
2025 and was project manager of the Senator’s farmers program “Sagip Saka”.
Prior to his stint in
government, Mr. Dalisay was program officer of the Governance and Local
Democracy Project of the Philippine Business for Social Progress. Mr. Dalisay
is also currently a member of the Kaya Natin Movement for Good Governance.
“I trust Renan to serve with
integrity and skill as he did for 12 years in the Senate. What we need in NFA
is somebody who can make things happen and implement the clear directions,
policies and reform agenda that the NFA Council and the OPAFSAM have set,” Senator
Pangilinan said. (NFA Public Affairs
