The
Ilocos Norte government released on May
7 around P10.2 million for the early mid-year bonus of provincial government
workers here.
Ilocos Norte Gov. Ma. Imelda
“Imee” R. Marcos personally handed over the “allowances” of employees through
their respective department heads.
“Inaagahan natin ang pagbibigay ng mid-year allowance to them para may pantustos na yan ng tuition at ayokong naghihikahos at nangungutang
all over. It’s better to give it now so that they can properly enroll their
kids,” Ms. Marcos said noting that the official school year start is on June 2.
A total of P10,206,351 has
been allotted for the bonuses and incentives of all permanent and casual
employees of the provincial government based on the 2012 General Appropriations
Act (GAA).
The amount was
comprehensively released by Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on the
first working day of the year, together with other budgetary items under the
departments’ respective Agency Budget Matrices (ABMs).
The funding for the midyear
perks and cash gifts government workers was charged against agency appropriations
as indicated in the 2012 GAA.
The prompt distribution of
midyear bonuses is part of the Aquino administration’s commitment to look after
all public servants and government workers. The schedule for the bonus releases
was timely for the opening of classes and when households are gearing up for
the onset of rainy days.
