City acting police chief P/Supt. Jeffrey T.
Gorospe said the commemoration of the Holy Week in the city was generally
peaceful and orderly.
Gorospe thanked the city
government and the 80 barangays for extending their help in maintaining the
peace as all barangay tanods in the city were used as force multiplier.
Gorospe added that the all
Laoag police officers were also put on alert over the Holy Week as all leaves
were cancelled.
No untoward incident was
reported during the four-day holiday. Gorospe added that tourists visiting the
city only asked assistance for directions heading to various tourism
destinations.
In view of this, the Laoag
government activated its own tourism assistance center to assist tourists.
Brochures and flyers about the city and the province’s tourism spots are also
available there for free.
